Bengaluru: Paula Gazard, chair of the World Design Council, offered assistance to the Karnataka government to encourage design thinking in the state's colleges and schools.
On the last day of the Future Design Summit of the Bengaluru Design Festival, she presented the IT/BT Minister, Dr. Ashwath Narayan C.N, the letter of support to show their support for the Government of Karnataka's efforts in promoting Design Thinking in the state's colleges and schools.
This was in response to the minister's declaration that the Government of Karnataka intends to encourage Design Thinking in schools and colleges during the opening season of the Bengaluru Design Festival.
“As a futuristic organisation that promotes design thinking and design education globally, the World Design Council is pleased to support the Government of Karnataka in this initiative. WDC will extend the global design thinking curriculum and help schools and colleges set up design clubs in their institutions. On behalf of the World Design Council, I wish all the very best for this unique initiative,” stated Paula Gazard.
The Bengaluru Design Festival, organized by ISDC Global and Jain School of Design, kicked off on November 11th and will run until December 12th, 22. The festival features 500+ ongoing events, 200+ global speakers, and a large crowd of design professionals, architects, thought leaders, policymakers, government officials, creative minds, and students.
Dr. Ashwath Narayan C.N, the Hon'ble IT Minister of the Government of Karnataka, said during the Bengaluru Design Festival 2022's closing ceremony, "I am extremely proud of this initiative and would like to congratulate the entire team of the Bengaluru Design Festival.
He also added, “This event is the first successful step in energising the creative ecosystem through interactions, networking, exchanging ideas and, more importantly, positioning Bengaluru as a global creative design hub. He emphasized that “Given that the city already offers a vast pool of talent, atmosphere, and technology-led infrastructure – comprising a robust ecosystem, it is not far from emerging as a Global creative destination.”
The Minister then highlighted that the key focus area in the coming years will be to strengthen the talent pool, a vision that the state is embarking upon by introducing Design Thinking education at the school level. He finished off by thanking the World Design Council for their support and conveying his eagerness for the next edition in 2023.
