A candidate must meet a set of qualifying requirements to be considered for NATA.

The following are the COA's predetermined criteria: Candidates must have received a 50 percent aggregate score in Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics at the 10+2 level, as well as an overall 50 percent aggregate score. Candidates who have passed any 10+3 diploma exam with Mathematics as a subject and received at least 50% in the exam are also eligible to apply.

Students appearing in class 12 with Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics are eligible to appear in NATA, however, their result will be declared valid after fulfilling the above criteria. The marks cannot be rounded off; for example, if a candidate received 49.9% in his or her qualifying exam, the marks will be counted as 49.9% alone.

The age barrier for participating in NATA has been removed. The candidate must, however, adhere to any age restrictions imposed by the appropriate Counseling/ Admission Authority. Scores are valid for a year from the date a candidate sits for the NATA exam, i.e. one year from the date a candidate sits for the exam.

NATA 2022 Eligibility remains the same for international/ NRI students as it does for Indian nationals. For international/NRI candidates who want to take the exam, there is no unique set of Eligibility requirements.
