The institute usually conducts an entrance exam known as PAF – PEARL Academy Entrance Exam which takes place several times a year on its different campuses. The exam is divided into 3 divisions depending upon the course selected which is followed by a personal interview.

The academy assesses the candidates on the foundation of their aptitude, creativity practicality, aesthetic sense, their career focus, level of commitment and energy, soft skills especially communication skills teamwork along with the eligibility criteria.

Exam Pattern for PEARL Entrance Examination

The candidates who will be applying for the courses will have to give the entrance exam which is divided into parts-

  • General Proficiency Test (GPT) – This exam assesses the candidate’s proficiency in the English language, Logical reasoning, Quantitative Ability & Data Interpretation.

 

  • Design Aptitude Test (DAT) – This test assesses a candidate’s aptitude for creativity, drawing, the ability to do creative designing, power of observation and imagination, sensitivity to the environment and communication skills.

 

  • Media Aptitude Test (MAT) –This exam tests the candidates’ aptitude for creative thinking, planning on branding or advertisement or campaign projects, a visual expression like logo design or dialogues & expressions writing i.e. screenplay, their command over language i.e.- short report writing, and power of observation like human behavior or visual elements.

 

The exams will be based on which course the candidate has applied for, be it Undergraduate, Postgraduate or Diploma. Depending upon the course the candidate might have to give both GPT and DAT. The entrance examination will be followed by a personal interview.

 

Syllabus for the Entrance Exam for PEARL Academy

  1. General Proficiency Test (GPT)

The candidates giving General Proficiency test (GPT)will have to focus on the following areas in order to get success in their exam. The syllabus includes the following mentioned subjects:

 

  • The candidate preparing for the PAF should focus on the English language such as Vocabulary, Comprehension, Expression, and other grammatical topics of the language.
  • The student should work on their Language Ability.
  • The candidate should prepare questions on Logical Reasoning.
  • One should work on the Quantitative Ability.
  • Most important, should focus on Data Interpretation.
  • The candidate should also be aware of Basic Mathematics.

 

      2. Design Aptitude Test (DAT)

In this section of the examination of the institute, candidates are assessed on the foundation of their creative ability, drawing skills, observation power, imagination, and sensitivity to the environment along with their soft skills and focusing more on their communication skills.

    3. Personal Interview

For a personal interview, the candidate should focus on the following things-

  • During the interview, the candidate should be able to display his/her career focus.
  • The candidate should show maturity as well as confidence.
  • The candidate must be aware of topics like General Awareness, Creative and Lateral Thinking, and Logical Reasoning and should be able to display their power to Analyse 
  • Must be able to display their intellectual and creative ability
  • The Portfolio must be organized so that it creates an impact during the Portfolio evaluation
  • Material Handling Skills especially for Design streams must be known.

 

       4. Media Aptitude Test (MAT)

The candidate applying for the Media School must be aware of the basics of Media studies, which one would get in the basic entrance for Mass Communication books along with their ability of creative thinking, visual expression, command of the language, and power of observation.
