NID is India's premier design college, with a highly trained faculty. It provides UG and PG courses in design fields such as fashion design, product design, web design, ceramic and glass design, interior design, lifestyle accessory design, and so on.
To gain admission to NID, you must take a written exam, which is held every year in the first week of January. This is followed by a Studio Test, which includes audio-visual questions, and finally the interview round.
The institute is well-known for its placement services. Amazon Creative Services, Deloitte Digital, Disney India, Hyundai, Godrej, Paytm, and other large MNCs have hired NID students.
NID is India's most prestigious design institute.
There isn't much you can do for that (Design Aptitude Test). First and foremost, you should have a talent for design. NID papers are created in such a way that only those with a creative side will be able to pass them. The question paper combines creativity, logical reasoning, and general knowledge. You must be up to date on current events around the world. Cramming yearbooks will not help you at all. Instead, make it a point to read the newspaper every day.
Following that, you must prepare for the studio test and personal interview. The studio test evaluates your material handling skills as well as your creativity.
You could be given any material, such as clay, terracotta, cardboard, or anything else, and asked to design something from a set of themes. Because it is time-sensitive, you must work quickly and efficiently with the materials provided.
The faculty evaluates you in person during the personal interview. They might inquire about your hobbies, interests, and even your talent. If you're a singer, they might even ask you to sing. You get to show them your artwork history if you have one. Bring whatever you've done up to this point, whether it's a random sketch or doodle. But make sure it's your own work, or you might get caught.
Make sure your portfolio is noticeable. It should be able to speak for you and define you. Do not try to incorporate or steal someone else's ideas. Be original and create something from your perspective. Follow your intuition.
You can do all of this by enrolling in a coaching programme that will help you develop your creative side. There are numerous coaching institutes such as BRDS, Skyblue, Silica, Pahal Design, and so on. It's fine if you don't want to join a coaching institute.
Finally, don't worry too much about the exam. Stress causes you to think less creatively, which you don't want to happen on the day of the exam. Don't be concerned about the interview. Be yourself and be confident.
Best wishes.
