The National Institutes of Design (NID) are a group of independent public design universities in India with the main campus in Ahmedabad and branch campuses in Gandhinagar and Bangalore. The Junior Institute was established in 1961 Other JNVs are located in Kurukshetra, Vijayawada, Jorhat, and Bhopal The NID is autonomously supervised by the Department of Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT), Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Government of India. The NID is the result of a combination of local and global forces. These forces came together in the late 1950s,  a pivotal period in Indian culture and education
Capable candidates who pass this entrance exam can enter the B.Des and M.Des programs. NID DAT consists of  DAT Prelims and DAT Mains and will be used to screen applicants. Applicants who pass both stages are eligible for admission to many NID campuses located in Ahmedabad, Haryana, Andhra Pradesh, Assam, and elsewhere.


NID Pre-Exam Dates:


The National Institutes of Design (NIDs) preliminary examination takes place the first week of January each year NID publishes its Prelims application form around September-October every year Application forms are usually due in the second week of December and admission cards are issued in the last week of December

NID Program:


At the bachelor's and master's levels, NID offers professional training programs with five faculty tracks and 20 uniquely designed areas. The NID campus in Ahmedabad recently launched a five-year doctoral program. NID has ongoing exchange programs and teaching relationships with over 55 foreign institutions. 


NID's holistic program structure combines theory, practical application, design projects, and fieldwork, all supported by a state-of-the-art design studio, skills and innovation lab, and knowledge management center. To provide students with professional experience, sponsored design projects are introduced into the classroom Designed research in all disciplines of the sciences and liberal arts broadens students' perspectives and enhances general awareness of current issues.
