NID stands for National Institute of design, is nationally as well as internationally one of the finest educational and research institution which provide Industrial, Communication, Textile and IT Integrated Design courses both for under-graduates and post-graduates.
National Institute for design is the first design Institute in India established by Indian government, Ford Foundation and the Sarabhai family in the year 1961 at Ahmedabad. It was an autonomous all-India body. Now, there are total 6 NID campuses located in within India, which are: Ahmedabad, Bangalore, Gandhinagar, Andhra pradesh, Haryana, Assam. NID has been ranked as India’s No. 1 Design Institute.
NID organise a two stage national level Entrance examination every year for admission of students for B. Des and M. Des courses provided by NID. The entrance examination of NID is being called NID-DAT. DAT stands for design aptitude test. This examination evaluates the candidate's visualisation skills, creative & observation skills, knowledge, comprehension, analytical ability, et cetera.
Those who wants to pursue Under-graduation and post graduation studies in design, must apply for the NID DAT. Cracking NID DAT will open up the opportunity to study at NID and do B. Des and M. Des courses. Experts have shared that this NID's design aptitude test is one of the most challenging design entrance exams conducted in India.
NID-DAT is a two stage examination- prelims and mains. Prelims conduct in offline while Mains conduct in online. DAT conclude subjective and objective types of questions in Prelims and mains conclude drawing, sketching as well as model making questions.
Candidates willing to study bachelor’s of design from NID and wants to crack NID-DAT need to complete their 12th examination. Also the candidates who wants to study masters in design from NID must complete their graduation examination from any of their preferred field.
The NID DAT application fees for general and OBCs are 3000 and for other category fees are 1500.
