Looking for admission to NIFT? Every year, the National Institute of Fashion Technology holds a three-phased entrance exam for various undergraduate and postgraduate courses. After passing the NIFT Written Entrance Exam, candidates must take a Situation Test.
Only B. Des courses have a situation test to assess candidates' ability to handle various materials and use their creative skills to create a model in a given situation using a set of materials. The model will be judged on a variety of factors, including innovative and creative use of a given material, space visualization, construction skill, model finesse, the composition of elements, colour scheme, the overall presentation of the model, and so on.
Every year, the National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT) will hold the NIFT situation test in the month of April. Candidates who have been shortlisted will be able to download their admit cards from the "Candidates Portal" beginning in March. The exam body will close the selection window for the B.Des NIFT situation test in the second week of March, and shortlisted candidates for MDes, MFM, and MFTech can upload documents until the third week of March.
The NIFT application fee is INR 3,000. SC, ST, and PwD candidates need to pay only INR 1500. By applying the application form for the NIFT exam you can give both Entrance and the NIFT Situation Test.
The NIFT situation test is used to assess a candidate's material handling and creative ability in a given situation with a given set of materials. Candidates must download the call letter for the NIFT situation test after booking the time slot and selecting the test centres for the NIFT situation test.
The NIFT Situation Test lasts two hours. The following parameters will be considered when evaluating the candidate's abilities.
Students will not be permitted to use any additional or outside materials when creating the model. Students will be required to use only English when explaining the model. Candidates will not be permitted to explain the concept in a language other than English.
If candidates used a language other than English to explain the model, they would be disqualified. The jury will be free to evaluate candidates on the spot. The models created by those test takers will not be saved for future use.
