National Institute of Design (IND)
The National Institute of Design (NID) is a group of independent public design universities in India, with its main campus located in Ahmedabad and extended campuses in Gandhinagar and Bengaluru The main institute was established in 1961 The locations of additional NIDs were in Kurukshetra, Vijayawada, Jorhat, and Bhopal The Department for the Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPI) of the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Government of India oversees NIDs on an autonomous basis. NID was formed as a result of many forces, both local and global These forces regrouped in the late 1950s and it was a pivotal time for Indian culture and education
Admission to the B.Des and M.Des programs is offered to qualified candidates who pass this entrance exam The DAT NID, which includes the DAT Preliminary and DAT Mains tests, will be used to screen applicants. Candidates who pass both stages are eligible for admission to many of NID's campuses in Ahmedabad, Haryana, Andhra Pradesh, Assam, and other locations

The National Institute of Design (NID) preliminary exam takes place in the first week of January each year NID publishes the Prelims application form from September to October each year Applications are usually closed in the second week of December and admission cards are issued in the last week of December
