Hi Shweta! There is not CAT or GAT in NID entrance exam. NID has only NID DAT which includes NID DAT prelims and NID DAT mains. Lets see what's NID'S entrance exam and NID mains.
NID stands for National Institute of design, is nationally as well as internationally one of the finest educational and research institution which provide Industrial, Communication, Textile and IT Integrated Design courses both for under-graduates and post-graduates and doctoral levels.
NID conduct an entrance examination called NID DAT to take admission in B. Des and M. Des courses at NID. NID DAT is divided in to two different parts: NID prelims and NID Mains.
NID Prelims which is the written part, whereas NID mains consist the creative part.
Experts have shared that this NID's design aptitude test is one of the most challenging design entrance exams conducted in India. NID DAT mains consist two parts such as: NID Studio test and personal Interview.
The major part of NID mains is NID Studio test. It is compulsory for candidates to perform well in NID Studio Test in order to secure a seat in the design institute. Studio test for B. Des is different from studio test for M. Des. Studio test is completely based on candidate's creativity skills.
EXAM PATTERN FOR STUDIO TEST
The studio test was conducted in two sessions.
A doodling exercise where candidates need to complete each given frame with doodles.
After a short break candidates were given two tasks which they need to make 3D models using the materials provided. Such as making something with material which examiners have provided.
This part generally cover questions from such topics-
Model Making, Doodling, Meeting with Students who Qualified NID DAT, How to Evolve Ideas, Audio – Visual Exercises, Material Manipulation, Creative Thinking.
The next part of NID mains after studio test is personal interview round. In this round NID experts will rake interview with both tricky and normal questions. Candidates gave to take their work portfolio with them in this round. Experts will ask questions such as:
Yourself, why you want to be a designer, reason of joining NID, inspiration, questions from general knowledge and current affairs, your working skills and portfolio.
