What Comes in NID Prelims General Aptitude Paper?

Hi Myra! NID do not have any general aptitude paper. Rather NID have design aptitude paper. Lets see what is NID Design aptitude paper and which types of questions comes in there. 

ABOUT NID 

NID stands for national Institute of design, which is undoubtedly the leading Institute of design in India. NID is nationally as well as internationally well acclaimed one of the finest educational and research institution which provide Industrial, Communication, Textile and IT Integrated Design courses both for under-graduates and post-graduates and doctoral levels.

WHAT IS NID DAT ? 

To get into NID, interested candidates need to crack NID DAT. NID conduct an entrance examination called NID DAT which is a design aptitude test every year to take admission in B. Des and M. Des courses at NID. Candidates, willing to pursue design courses, must apply for NID DAT to get admission at NID.
NID DAT is divided in to two different parts: NID prelims and NID Mains.

NID Prelims-

NID Prelims which is the written part of NID DAT. NID Prelims are divided into 2 sections: Common Design Aptitude Test and Discipline Specific Test. These two will happen together.

  • Paper will consist Mix of objective and subjective types of questions of 100 marks in English language. Number of Objective questions will be 22 of 1 and 2 marks and subjective questions will be 4 of 15 and 12 marks.
  • Syllabus- communication skills, Compositions, Animation, creativity, Drawing skills for subjective part, general mental ability, Design skills, Environment sensitivity, Visual design, thematic colour arrangement, Proportion and perspective, Abstract symbolism, Memory drawing. 

NID Mains- 

After qualifying NID prelims you can sit for mains. Mains consist 2 rounds, such are: studio test and personal interview round. 

  • Studio test-

The studio test was conducted in two sessions. 

  1. A doodling exercise where candidates need to complete each given frame with doodles. 
  2. After a short break candidates were given two tasks which they need to perform using the materials provided. Such as making something with material which examiners have provided. 
  • Personal interview-

The next part of NID mains after studio test is personal interview round. In this round NID experts will rake interview with both tricky and normal questions. Candidates gave to take their work portfolio with them in this round. Experts will ask questions such as:

  • About yourself, about your hobbies
  • Why you want to be a designer
  • Where do you live and speciality of that place. 
  • Why you wish to join NID
  • About your favourite designer
  • You can be asked questions on general knowledge and current affairs
  • You have to talk about your working skills and show them your work portfolio.
