About UCEED

The Indian Institute of Technology Bombay conduct the national level examination UCEED which stands for Undergraduate Common Entrance Examination for Design, to take admission to the B. Des course at IIT Bombay, IIT Delhi, IIT Guwahati, IIT Hyderabad, and IIITDM Jabalpur. The admission will occur on the basis of UCEED 2023 scores through the joint seat allocation process. The entrance exam will be conducted in 24 cities across India.

Basic Tips to prepare for UCEED

Tips1. know about exam pattern

UCEED is a total 3 hours exam of total 300 marks. UCEED divided into two parts- part A and Part B
Part A- this part is online computer based test which will consists questions like MCQ, MSQ, NAT. The duration for part A is for 2 hours and 30 mins. This part will have total 68 questions with the mask of 240.
Part B- this part is pen and paper based test which consists questions on sketching. This is basically a practical part. The time duration of this part is for 30 mins and will have 1 question of 60 marks. PwD candidates who are using the services of a scribe, no assistance in Part B will be permitted. 

Tips2. Know properly about exam syllabus

The next will be knowing about syllabus of UCEED. You need to know about syllabus in order to know you can do it or not! But of course you can do it. 

Syllabus for part A

  • Visualization and spatial ability
  • Observation and design sensitivity
  • Environmental and social awareness
  • Analytical and logical reasoning
  • Language and creativity
  • Design thinking and problem solving

Syllabus for part B

  • Drawing

Tips3. Make a strategy

You need to make a strategy first, determining how much time you have and how many topics you have to cover. Making a day to day schedule will help you to cover all aspects of the syllabus.

Without a proper book you cant you will lost you focus. So you need some good books. Here are some books you might need for UCEED:

Tips5. Practice well

Practice will make you perfect. So practice well. Try to cover the whole syllabus. Practice drawing and sketching, because it’s a test to examine your creative level. Regular practice will make you expert. You need to practice basic maths and reasoning, because with practice you will get better in these two things. 

Tips6. Solve sample paper and give mock tests. 

Solving Pervious year questions, sample papers and a lot of mock test will help you to get a knowledge about how you should complete your paper strategically within time giving correct answer. It will also give knowledge about what you should do and what you shouldn’t during an exam.
