NID stands for National Institute of design, is nationally as well as internationally one of the finest educational and research institution which provide Industrial, Communication, Textile and IT Integrated Design courses both for under-graduates and post-graduates and doctoral levels.
National Institute for design is the first design Institute in India established by Indian government, Ford Foundation and the Sarabhai family in the year 1961 at Ahmedabad. It was an autonomous all-India body. NID has been ranked as India’s No. 1 Design Institute. National Institute of Design has it’s total 7 campus all over India, such as, Ahmedabad, Bangalore, Gandhinagar, Andhra Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Haryana, Assam.
NID conduct an entrance examination called NID DAT which is a design aptitude test every year to take admission in B. Des and M. Des courses at NID. Candidates, willing to pursue design courses, must apply for NID DAT to get admission at NID. NID DAT is divided in to two different parts: NID prelims and NID Mains.
NID Prelims which is the written part whereas NID mains is the part where candidates have to go for studio test and personal interview.
There are different syllabus for NID studio test for B. Des and M. Des.

To sit for NID, First of all you have to register for NID DAT and crack it with eligible score. But first of all you have to check the syllabus to take preparation for NID DAT prelims, which is the written part. If you qualify in prelims, then only you can sit for mains. Mains will be conducted within 2 days. One day is for studio test and another is for personal interview round. All questions will be asked in English and mains will carry total of 100 marks. Qualifying in studio test will allow you to go for interview round.
Seeing the syllabus and days you have left, you should first make a structure first. Make sure you cover as well as practice the entire syllabus within that particular time period.
Studio test will include following tasks:
Practice these things repeatedly. Practise making models from as many materials as you can. Include some of the basic materials in your preparation such as wire, cloth, thermocol, rubber sheet, paper, clay, wool, threads, pins, plastic, plaster of Paris, hardboard, foils, etc.
Solve previous years questions and give several mock test. This will make you expert.
Examiners give extra marks on cleanliness. So whenever you practice at home, try to give attention on your cleanliness.
NID Studio Test is being conducted to check the observation skills of the candidate. This section includes exercises on aspects such as mental attentiveness, noticing and registering things like objects, environment and culture.
