ABOUT NIFT Delhi

NIFT stands for the National Institute of Fashion Technology was established in the year 1986 under the Ministry of Textiles, Government of India. NIFT is a expert Institution in fashion education which provide integrate knowledge, traditional arts, contemporary thought, academic freedom, innovations in design and technology and creative thinking. NIFT, today, has spread its wings across the length and breadth of the country with its 17 campuses all over India.
Among those 17 campuses, NIFT Delhi is the first campus of NIFT established in the year 1986 situated in the state of Delhi. According to 2022 India Today, NIFT Delhi is the no. 1 Institute in Fashion designing in India. NIFT Delhi provide both under and post graduation courses. They provide total seats 295. According to Indiatoday and outlook's ranking of 2021 this campus of NIFT has ranked no 1.

• Under graduation courses- B. Des in Fashion Design, Accessory Design, Fashion Communication, Leather Design, Textile Design, Knitwear Design and B.F. Tech Apparel Production
• Post Graduation courses- M. Des, M.F. Tech, M.F.M.

How to get into NIFT Delhi? 

Candidates have to appear for NIFT Entrance examination which is the national level design entrance test conducted by the National Institute of Fashion Technology. The NIFT entrance exam includes three rounds - Creative Ability Test (CAT), General Ability Test (GAT) and Situation Test.

• B. Des candidates have to appear for CAT and GAT and then situation test. 
• B. FTech candidates have to appear for GAT only. 
• M. Des students have to appear for both CAT and GAT. And then have to qualify for case study based GD and PI.
• Qualifying candidates have to register and participate in the NIFT counselling.

How to apply for NIFT

candidates must fill up the form for NIFT entrance. Here are the steps to apply for NIFT:

Step1. Visti the official website of NIFT. 

Step2. Create your own log in ID with the following details- 

• Name
• Date of Birth
• Email ID
• Select Program Type and Programme
• Select Category and PwD status 

Step3. Log in into that site with your newly made log in ID and password. And you will get to see the application form. 

Step4. Fill up the application formform with following details, such as-

• Test center - The candidate will have to select the test center (city) from the drop-down menu.
• Personal information - including the name of one's parents, gender, nationality, domicile, etc.
• Address for correspondence.
• Academic Qualification

Step5. Upload required documents such as passport size photo, signature and results. 

Step6. Most vital step is the pay application fees. For general or OBC the fees is 3000 and for ST/SC/PwD the fee is 1500.

Step7. After payment is being done, the application process will be completed. And take a print out of the form.
