How can I apply for NID?

NID is one of the top universities in the country for design. Not only did it top in India, but it also got recognition from around the world. The Business Weekend, USA, mentioned NID as one of the top 25 Asian and European programs. 

It is a dream for thousands of students to get into the National Institute of Design. There are three campuses of NID located in:

  1. Ahmedabad - It is located in the city center and offers 8 Bachelor's Degree programs and 7 Master's programs. Recently, Ph.D. programs of 5 years have been added to the list. 

  2. Gandhinagar - Located in Gandhinagar city, it offers 7 Master's programs. 

  3. Bengaluru - Located in Bengaluru city, it offers 5 Master's programs. 

It is the applicant's choice to choose their preferred location for a Master's degree, while UG applicants have only an option of attending in Ahmedabad. However, applying for NID follows a series of steps. (Same for all kinds of applications)

 

Applying for NID: 

Step 1

To submit your application for NID, firstly, you should register on their official website with your Email ID and login back. 

Step 2

Under the admission section, fill out an application providing the required information, such as your personal and educational details. Also, the work experience if you are aspiring for a Master's Degree. 

(Follows the same process as your regular college online application procedure)

Step 3:

This section is an essential part of your application. Here, you should update your authentic documents, like a caste certificate (if any), a recent scanned photograph, signature, PwD certificate, proof of address, and others. 

(If attempted any fraudulent activities, the application will be rejected, and the applicant will have to face the consequences)

Step 4

After submitting the documents successfully, the last step of the process is to pay the non-refundable application fee and print your application out. 

(Application fee varies from applicant to applicant, considering the caste reservation, geographical area, and other facts)

 

Offered Programs are:

  1. Bachelor of Design (B.Des.):

• Communication Design

• Industrial Design

• Textile, Lifestyle and Accessory Design, and Apparel Design.

 

2. Master of Design (M.Des.):

• Communication Design

• Industrial Design

• Interdisciplinary Design

• Textile, Lifestyle and Accessory Design, and Apparel Design. 

• IT Integrated

 

3. Ph.D

• Design Innovation

• Design Education

• Social Innovation

• Design Practice 

 

How You are Selected: 

You will be selected based on your performance in two stages of the Aptitude Exams. These exams are conducted to assess your knowledge, skills, and abilities in design.
