Can anyone become a architect after passing from NID?

No, NID do not provide any Architecture course. So you can’t be an architect after studying at NID. 

WHAT IS NID? 

NID stands for National Institute of design, is nationally as well as internationally one of the finest educational and research institution which provide Industrial, Communication, Textile and IT Integrated Design courses both for under-graduates and post-graduates and doctoral levels.
National Institute for design is the first design Institute in India established by Indian government, Ford Foundation and the Sarabhai family  in the year 1961 at Ahmedabad. It was an autonomous all-India body. NID has been ranked as India’s No. 1 Design Institute. National Institute of Design has it’s total 7 campus all over India, such as, Ahmedabad, Bangalore, Gandhinagar, Andhra Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Haryana, Assam.

But how to be an Architect? 

The eligibility you need to be an architect are given below-

  • If you are willing to be an architect, you first need to find good colleges for architecture. Such as IITs, CEPT university, Jadhavpur university, SPAs and so on. 
  • You need to check those college's separate eligibility criteria. 
  • You need to take science stream after you 10th. This means you must have Physics, chemistry and maths in your 12th standard. Or you must have mathematics in your 10+3 degree. 
  • You need to pass with above 50 percent marks in your 12th standard examination from any recognize board. 
  • You need to clear entrance examinations. Such as NATA (national aptitude test for architecture), JEE mains paper2, AAT etc. Also some colleges take their own entrance examination rather than those all India entrance exams fir architecture. 
  • You need to achieve a good score or score above the cut off to get a chance in top notch colleges. You will be offered from different colleges based on your rank. 
  • To study masters in architecture, you need to score a good marks with a bachelor’s degree in architecture. Then only you can study M. Arch. 

These are the eligibility criteria to be an architect.

So, if you are willing to be an architect, NID is not for you! But to build your career in designing field, NID will be your best choice.
