Can a class 12 student take the NIFT entrance exam?

Yes indeed, a 12th standard student can take NIFT entrance if they match the eligibility criteria for their desired course. Infact it will be a best decision if a student study bachelor's degree courses after their 12th exam. It will surely open up many career opportunities for them. 

WHAT IS NIFT? 

NIFT stands for the National Institute of Fashion Technology was established in the year 1986 under the Ministry of Textiles, Government of India. Its a Statutory Institute governed under NIFT Act 2006. NIFT is a expert Institution in fashion education which provide integrate knowledge, traditional arts, contemporary thought, academic freedom, innovations in design and technology and creative thinking. It frequently upgrade its curriculum in accordance with the changing needs of the industry. NIFT, today, has spread its wings across the length and breadth of the country with its 17 campuses all over India.

COURSES YOU CAN DO AFTER YOUR 12TH 

  • B. Des offer 7 courses such as- B. Des in fashion Designing, B. Des in fashion communication, B. Des in leather design, B. Des in textile design, B. Des in knitwear design, B. Des in Accessory design and B. Design lateral entry of 3 years course. 
  • B. F. Tech offer 2 courses such as- B. F. Tech is apparel production (4 years) and B. F. Tech in apparel production lateral entry ( 3 years).


ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA TO STUDY AT NIFT 

  • NIFT take entrance examination in the formats of General Aptitude Test (GAT) and Creative Aptitude Test (CAT). Candidates must crack the exams to study at NIFT. 
  • For B.Des. admissions, candidates must have pass 10+2 exam from any recognised board of secondary exam with any stream. But for B.FTech. candidates must have Chemistry, Physics and Mathematics in their 10+2 examination. 
  • Pass 10+2 examination from any university, school or board, Institute from India or any foreign country but must recognised by the Association of Indian Universities (AIU). In this case B. F. Tech candidates must require PCM. 
  • Candidates must Pass the Senior Secondary School Exam conducted by National Open School having a minimum five subjects of any stream. For B.FTech. candidates must have Chemistry, Mathematics and Physics. 
  • Candidates must have done Diploma of three or four years recognised by AICTE. B.FTech. applicants can have an engineering diploma.
  • There are age limit to apply for NIFT exam. The age limit is 23 years. There is age relaxation of 5 years for SC/ST.

COURSE FEE:

  • B. Des course (4 years)- INR 5.45 L - 12.78 L
  • B. F. Tech course (4 years) - INR 5.45 L - 12.78 L

So, if you think you are eligible, then go for it.
