The term "digital media" refers to information that is broadcast to us via a screen or other device. Digital media includes software, digital images, digital video, video games, web pages, mp3s, podcasts, streaming services, electronic documents, and e-books.

We are surrounded by digital media. It has become the primary means by which many people receive, send, and create content. Members of Generation Z, also known as the zoomers or Generation Z as defined by sociologists, are particularly affected by this. Zoomers were the first generation to have early access to the internet and portable digital technology, having been born between 1997 and 2012. Because of this, they are also referred to as "digital natives."

Zoomers prefer voice control and images to typing and texting for communication. They frequently meet new people through social media and other platforms, many of whom they will never meet in "real life." And, for better or worse, their smartphone is their primary source of information and entertainment. According to a 2015 Microsoft study, 77% of people aged 18 to 25 pick up their phones when they have nothing else to do. Only 10% of people aged 65 and up agreed with this statement.

DIGITAL MARKETING IS CHANGING THE WORLD

Digital media has had an impact on a wide range of industries, including journalism, filmmaking, publishing, education, and entertainment. Several of the changes have been overwhelmingly positive. People can become content creators on websites like YouTube, allowing them to share ideas, advocate for underrepresented groups, or start their own businesses. Furthermore, podcasting created a space free of the more constrained formats of traditional news sources for lengthy discussions and debates on important issues.

.One of the issues that has arisen as a result of bypassing traditional media gatekeepers is the dissemination of false information, fake news, or alternative facts. Social media apps can promote positive change, but they can also be used by criminals to exploit social or economic tensions or polarising issues.

To put it another way, the rise of digital media has been a double-edged sword. It has created many new jobs and other lucrative business opportunities while also eliminating some. In some cases, it gives the little guy more power; in others, it makes his job much more difficult.
