Design hopefuls commonly wonder if they should take the NID or UCEED test.

My personal recommendation in light of this circumstance would be to gain a better understanding of the design degree offered by these universities.

The government founded the independent college NID in 1961, 61 years ago, with the primary goal of offering high-quality design education to our nation (Similar to IITs set up with the intention of providing quality technical education). Being the top-ranked design institution in India, NID only accepts the top applicants, which contributes significantly to the quality of its curriculum. Along with these factors, NID's facilities, campus atmosphere, and qualified faculty all contribute to its ranking as one of India's top design schools. The fact that NID offers extremely stream-specific design instruction (such as animation, graphic, product, and textile design) beginning at the graduate level is another key aspect of the organisation.

Now that we've gotten to the UCEED exam, which is intended to get admission into a design degree programme offered by prestigious technical institutions like (IIT Bombay, IIT Delhi, IIT Guwahati, IIT Hyderabad, & IIITDM Jabalpur), many private design institutes also use the UCEED score as a selection criterion. The aforementioned federal technical institutes offer design exposure that is similarly competitive in terms of their professors, facilities, and infrastructure. However, the main distinction between IITs and NID is that the bachelor's degree is not stream-specific at IITs, and students receive integrated design instruction that includes topics like communication and industrial design. However, students can alter the substance of their courses by choosing electives and subjects that interest them.

Additionally, the subject covered in both the NID and UCEED exam syllabuses is essentially identical, hence it is usually advised to take both exams in order to increase your chances of being accepted into a prestigious design college. My personal recommendation to anybody considering the B.des programme would be to choose either NID or any of the IITs because the designers from these prestigious institutions are treated equally in the design industry.
