National Institute of Design (NID) is the primary plan school to be pronounced as an 'Organization of National Importance by an Act in the Indian Parliament. First, known as the National Institute of Industrial Design, NID was laid out in 1961.
An independent establishment falling under the ambit of the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Government of India, NID is renowned for offering configuration courses in specializations like Industrial, Communication, Textile and IT Integrated (Experiential) Design.
An unhitched male of Design (BDes) courses are offered exclusively at NID Ahmedabad while Master of Design (MDes) courses are presented at NID Ahmedabad, NID Bengaluru, and NID Gandhinagar. Then again, Graduate Diploma Program in Design (GDPD) course is presented at NID Andhra Pradesh, NID Madhya Pradesh, NID Haryana, and NID Assam.
