Hi Rudra! There is not CAT or GAT in NID. NID only have DAT which is design aptitude test. Lets see what's NID and NID DAT. 

ABOUT NID 

NID stands for national Institute of design, which is undoubtedly the leading Institute of design in India. NID is nationally as well as internationally well acclaimed one of the finest educational and research institution which provide Industrial, Communication, Textile and IT Integrated Design courses both for under-graduates and post-graduates and doctoral levels.

WHAT IS NID DAT? 

To get into NID, interested candidates need to crack NID DAT. NID conduct an entrance examination called NID DAT which is a design aptitude test every year to take admission in B. Des and M. Des courses at NID. Candidates, willing to pursue design courses, must apply for NID DAT to get admission at NID.

NID DAT is divided in to two different parts: NID prelims and NID Mains.

After qualifying NID prelims, candidates need to crack studio test and personal interview round which is the part of mains

• NID Prelims which is the written part of NID DAT.NID Prelims are divided into 2 sections: Common Design Aptitude Test and Discipline Specific Test. These two will happen together. 
• After qualifying prelims candidates can sit for mains. NID DAT mains consist two parts such as: NID Studio test and personal Interview. 

Eligibility criteria to sit For NID DAT

• Candidates who wants to study B. Des, must pass their 12th examination. And for M. Des candidates needs to pass graduation. 
• Both B. Des and M. Des candidates must pass and get a relevant score in NID DAT prelims and Mains. 

IMPORTANT DATES FOR NID 2023

• Application form release- October 21, 2022 - December 16, 2022.
• Application form with late fees- December 16 - December 19, 2022.
• Form correction date- December 20 - 22, 2022
• Admit card release date- December 30, 2022
• NID DAT prelims exam- January 8, 2023
• Prelims result- for M.Des is February 28, 2023 and for B.Des is March 30, 2023.
• Admit card for mains- For M.Des is March 20 to April 23, 2023 and for B.Des is April 29 to 30, 2023.
• Mains exam- for M.Des is March 20 to April 23, 2023 and for B.Des is April 29 to 30, 2023.
• NID DAT Main result release- for M.Des is May 16, 2023, and for B.Des is May 18, 2023.
• Provisional offer letter of NID admission- First week of June 2023.
