The National Institute of Design (NID) is one of the widespread public institutions among aspiring designers in the design field. With its utmost care towards students by providing world-class education, it also grabs the attention of the rest of the world.

NID has three campuses in major cities, Ahmedabad, Gandhinagar, and the IT hub Bengaluru. It offers programs for UG and Master's students with courses in 8 different majors across all branches.

NID, the institution that attracts almost every aspiring designer, is also the most competitive institution to secure a seat. However, considering the facilities of these branches, they get thousands of applications each year.

How many applications does NID get?

In the academic year 2020-2021, the institution offered 340 seats for B.Des, the total number of seats from all branches. Over 15,623 members registered for the entrance exam, while 14,491 fellows competed for 340 seats.

What is the procedure?

To get into NID, the best piece of advice you could ever get is to practice and be good with your syllabus. Anybody with good preparation can ace the test. Here is the process.

1. Register and log in to their official website: It is the only way to submit your application. Do not fall prey to third-party websites.

2. Update your details: You should update them with your personal and professional information, just like any other college application.

3. Submit Documents: You should update the required documents to prove that you are authentic.

4. Pay the Application Fee: After all the processes, pay the application fee, and that is it.

But meeting the minimum eligibility criteria does not mean that you secure a seat. After taking the NID test, you get informed about your test process, and if selected, you will get an offer letter.

Tips for defeating the process:

Work on building a portfolio: a portfolio is a collection of your work samples. It is the best way to lure people if it is done in the right way. You can showcase your work at the time of the interview, and it adds as a bonus point.
