Hi,

All applicants interested in enrolling in a certain course at NIFT can use this answer to determine if they are qualified or not. The prerequisites or the eligibility criteria for each course and program must be understood well. 


The list of Courses offered by NIFT and the eligibility criteria for each is stated below:

UG Programs
1. B.Des. Program
2. B.F.Tech. Program

PG Programs
1. M.Des. Program
2. M.F.M Program
3. M.F.Tech Program

Now let us discuss the eligibility criteria for each of the PG and UG Programs at NIFT

UG Programs

For B.Des Program:
Bachelor of Design is the full form of the B.Des. program. The course will last four years. It will also include the following programs: knitwear design, leather design, textile design, fashion design, and fashion communication.
1. Candidates must have passed the 10+2 exam from a recognized central or state board.
2. Candidates who have taken the General Certificate Education Examination in London/ Sri Lanka etc.
3. Candidates who have taken the exam abroad are eligible if the Association of Indian Universities recognizes it as being equivalent to the 10+2 exam.
4. Candidates must hold a 3 or 4-year diploma that has been approved by the state board or AICTE to be eligible.
5. Candidates taking the 10+2 exam in the current year are also eligible to take the entrance test, but have to submit the supporting documents during the verification and counseling.

For B.F.Tech Program:
Bachelor of Fashion Technology or B.F.Tech another course provided by NIFT as part of its undergraduate curriculum. The duration will be four years. One of the key subjects it will cover is apparel production.
1. Candidates must have passed the 10+2 exam from recognized central or state board with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics.
2. Candidates who have taken the General Certificate Education Examination in London/ Sri Lanka etc.
3. Candidates who have taken the exam abroad are eligible if the Association of Indian Universities recognizes it as being equivalent to the 10+2 exam.
4. Candidates must hold a 3 or 4-year diploma that has been approved by the state board or AICTE to be eligible.
5. Candidates taking the 10+2 exam in the current year are also eligible to take the entrance test, but have to submit the supporting documents during the verification and counseling.


PG Programs

For M.Des. Program:
This is a Post Graduate course that NIFT offers. It stands for Master of Design and its primary subject is Design Space. The Design Space is an advanced course that requires knowledge of design foundations and assumes candidates are familiar with the core skills and theories for successful program completion. This course will take two years to complete.
1. Candidates must have passed an undergraduate degree from any institution/university recognized by Indian Law, or
2. Candidates who have a diploma in UG Design from NIFT/NID only, are eligible or,
3. Candidates who have passed a diploma course of three years from NIFT/NID are also eligible.

For M.F.M. Program:
This is another PG program offered by NIFT. It is also for 2 years and stands for Masters of Fashion Management.
1. Candidates who hold an undergraduate degree from a school or university in India that is recognized by Indian Law. or,
2. Candidates with an undergraduate diploma of minimum of 3 years from NIFT or NID.

For the M.F.Tech Program:
Master of Fashion Technology is the final program in the PG course category. The duration of this course is also 2 years.
1. Candidates who hold a Bachelor of Fashion Technology (B.F.Tech.) degree from the National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT) or 
2. A Bachelor of Engineering (B.E.) or Bachelor of Technology (B.Tech.) degree from an institution authorized by Indian law may also apply.
